NS BlueScope Lysaght Singapore Achieves New Milestone for Renewable Energy
Lysaght Singapore has recently signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Urban Renewables, a Singapore-based sustainable energy developer with a 500kWp rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) setup at its industrial facility in Singapore.
The solar implementation moves Lysaght Singapore closer to its 2030 sustainability goal and increasing the use of renewable energy across its facilities. This is made possible by harvesting clean energy using the solar system installed on the roof to fulfil 85% to 90% of Lysaght’s energy demand.
Aside from the solar PV, two sets of electric vehicles (EV) charging stations have also been installed at Lysaght’s car park to allow EV users to recharge vehicles using clean energy, to enhance overall energy efficiency in the factory.
The solar installation utilises the LYSGAHT® metal roof system, which is manufactured using BlueScope's premium materials. It has always been an ideal platform for Solar PV arrays due to its long-term durability and service life for solar panel installation. Furthermore, the THERMATECH® Solar Reflectance technology incorporated in COLORBOND® steel helps effectively reduce energy consumption in a building by regulating its indoor temperature and cooling down the building on hot days.
This project marks a new milestone for Lysaght Singapore to achieve the goal of transitioning into a sustainable business and moving forward to a greener future by attaining its target of carbon neutrality.
Mapletree Benoi Logistics Hub is a five-storey ramp-up logistics facility located near to the Jurong and Pasir Panjang Ports and with easy access to the city. The building has been conferred the BCA Green Mark Platinum Award.
